Mistakes, I've made a few - regrets, I have my share - Parade is my attempt to excuse bad decisions as devotion and steadfastness, but the truth is in there too, I haven't found the road I was looking for, but I have enjoyed the journey so far. Could've used a "life choice" GPS back in the day, but I found my way to where I am, and I am okay
with that.
lyrics
Could've gone the straight and narrow, committed to a goal,
Could've run the race like I had nowhere else to go.
But I struggled from the get-go to attain a sense of self,
And I found it in the journey...
Others did it right, right, now they wonder who they are,
They search the house, the bank account and sometimes at the bar,
for a late-life renaissance to help them cope,
with what they gave up for security...
And I can see up ahead my road comes to a T.
Left or right makes no difference to me.
Looking back, I can't even see mistakes
that I know I must have made,
But I liked the whole parade.
Though I know sometimes I drank from the wrong cup,
at least I grew old before I grew up.
The path we walk is winding, but all along the road
Unexpected blessings came to guide me home
The tragedies and triumphs are the mortar of my life
it paints a total picture...
I chose to follow passion, though it chose to not choose me
and I laugh when I remember trying other futile things
but things left incomplete are the marks I leave behind,
success is just a furbelow...
I can see up ahead my road comes to a Y.
Either way is where my futures lie.
Cause I can't go back and fix
mistakes I know I must have made,
But I liked the whole parade.
Though I never was the big dog, I like the dog I was,
and at least I grew old before I grew up.
When cases come to cases,
I would never try to fix mistakes that I have made
cause it's the music and the madness,
the goodness and the badness,
the love and all the sadness,
It's in the journey...
and I love the whole parade…
I love the whole parade…
and at least I grew old before I grew up.
My brother started writing songs and that was the spark that started me on my own songwriting course that would last the
rest of my life. I chose to use my surname, "Schweitzer," for practical reasons, realizing long ago that pronouncing "Richard Schweitzer" was difficult. "Schweitzer Projects" under the "tindog music & stuff" umbrella is producing songs in the Pop / Pop rock or folk categories...more
