Some Other Place

from Fences by Schweitzer

about

This was written by me from the point of view of a friend who had to travel early in his career.

lyrics

She stands at the window looking out
at the stream of headlights gliding down the mountain road
like the tears on her face
I know she loves me, but it’s hard to hold her heart
when I have to be some other place

The oldest is a joy enough to make a family rich
and the baby’s hair is covering the crown I love to kiss
I know they love me, but they can’t even understand
when I’m gone like this

Oooo, some other place
Oooo, I left my heart some other place

We took it for granted
love’s not supposed to die
(Love should never die)
When you already have it
should you have to try?
I feel a part of me is slipping fast away
(she’s slipping through my fingers)
How do you hold on to love from such a distant place?

She stands at the window looking out
at the stream of headlights gliding down the mountain road
like the tears on her face
I know she loves me,
I know she loves me,
I know she loves me,
but it’s hard to hold her heart
when I have to be some other place

Oooo, some other place
Oooo, some other place
Oooo, I left my heart some other place

I chose to use my surname, "Schweitzer," for practical reasons, realizing long ago that pronouncing "Richard Schweitzer" was difficult. "Schweitzer Projects" under the "tindog music & stuff" umbrella is producing songs in the Pop / Pop rock or folk categories ... more
